JOB DESCRIPTION.

Seeking 1-2 Company Dancers:

Nava Dance Theatre is seeking 1-2 bharatanatyam dancers to join us as we perform across the US in 2024. This is a paid contract. Rehearsals are 1-2 times a week on weekdays, with additional nights or weekends in the weeks leading up to performances. Studio locations are in Berkeley, San Francisco, and Danville. 

Hourly rate is $18-22/hr for rehearsals and additional for performances. 

We are looking for a bharatanatyam dancer who is ok with receiving feedback, ok with making temporary adjustments in style for a particular piece, open to participating in discussions around theme, and open to talking about or listening to politics surrounding a particular theme. If you don't feel like you can participate in this way, then this group may not be the best fit. Note, we will also be sending 1099's at the end of the year.

Qualifications:
- Bay Area-based 
- Available for in-person rehearsals 
- Able to get around the Bay Area somewhat easily (rehearsals are 80% near bart or public transport)
- Has at least 1 year experience being in any kind of ensemble work (dance schools, college teams ok!)
- Trained in bharatanatyam, at least 2 years post-arangetram OR equivalent experience.

At this point, we are looking for someone who is willing to share their vaccination status. We adhere to current CDC guidelines and by the rules of the studios we practice at. At this point we rehearse without masks, but wear masks leading up to a show.
